2001-10-05 - 2:05 p.m. - 23
so here is friday afternoon rainy and wet like unfamiliarity. last night i saw my 23rd aloha show and their new material is surely among their finest and perhaps some of the finest rock and roll i have heard lately. about a month ago i was at a show in ann arbor and met this girl who was an internet friend of a real friend. we were talking about how wmazingly lucky we were to have all of our favorite bands in such close proximity to us. We've got Aloha, Flashpapr, Saturday Looks Good To Me, Lovesick (although only for one more show), and then a few other bands that make amazing rockin music but who don't mean quite as much to me really, all living within a two hour radius. i suppose two hours seems kind of far to alot of people but really, when yr living in bowling green, the closest place to go to find a real bookstore or a good restaraunt or just to see a good movie is at least a 25 minute drive. so two hours doesn't seem much more than that.so anyway im sitting around waiting to here from my teacher that im tutoring for. my first journal entry on it is due tuesday and still no signs of beginning. im kind of starting to freak out. horribly. in an ugly and terrified sort of way. but what can i do, ya know?
this weekend will be a slow one in which i hope to see some old friends i haven't seen in a long time. and maybe also you and i will go look at keyboards in the music shops of toledo.
last night i didn't update this and it felt kind of good to just let everything settle in the bottom of the lake as sediment (sentiment?) and slowly turn to rocks containing fossils of thought. but last night was amazing full of laughs and conversation and smoking way more than cigarettes than is healthy in an 8 hour period of time.
it was strange because all of the old bowling green people were there, all the people who i have so much respect for and love to talk to. and then the new BG crew was there as well. it was hard trying to distribute my time between the two. but still very satisfying to see them all.
